You may know her best from her competition career or from her #HelenProblems. She will be spending the day speaking to us on creating a mindset that can carry you further than you have ever imagined!

Helen J Schaefer, National Certified Master Groomer (NCMG), Certified Canine Esthetician (CCE) is an international placing groomer, industry speaker, and educator. Earning the #3 spot on GroomTeam USa in 2021, she is best known for her resilience, dedication, and sound advice.

In the ring, she specializes in American Cockers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Bichons, and poodles, especially in the European Secondary Trim.

Originally hired as a Groomer for Heart + Paw Glen Mills location, She worked her way up to her current position as Director of Style Services and oversees the operations of 22 stylists between 15 locations, invluding one in Cinncinati; her biggest passion is helping to develop leadership skills and prepare continuing education programs for the groomers under her employ.

Helen has been nominated for multiple Barkleigh Honors for congeniality as well as her educational speaking engagements and her content creation.

She was the recipient of 2020 Up and Coming Speaker of the Year. She was again nominated in 2021 for Speaker of the Year as well as a 2021 Groomer of the Year Nominee, her VLog “Groomer Problems” which won the 2022 Podcast of the Year Barkleigh Honor.

What is the Ohio Professional Pet Groomers Association?

The OPPGA was founded in April 2020, in the midst of a state-wide pandemic shutdown. Originally, we used the organization as a central source of information amidst the confusion of COVID-19 protocols. The OPPGA is a 501c6 non-profit business league dedicated to holding higher standards in pet safety, generating business-building opportunities, offering versatile learning experiences and creating legislative fluidity in our industry.
